Sharpen Your MMA Striking By Using Body Sway To Counter Punch

In this MMA Striking Drill we learn how upper body sway can be an incredibly effective for counter attacking and by performing this drill we can improve our natural movement and reactions.

In this drill both students stay on the spot and do not move, the aggressor throws any one single head shot and the counter attacker and the counter attacker practises swaying back out of the way of the punch by letting their weight move onto the back leg. The counter attacker then sways forward again pushing their weight back onto the front leg and uses the momentum to counter attack. The whole drill is done without moving the feet.

This is an excellent drill for any striking martial art or combat spot whether it’s MMA, boxing or Muay Thai.
